Give Your Writing The Edge Workshop

Give Your Writing The Edge Workshop

Workshop Information

This intensive workshop is given to a minimum of 3 participants.

The workshop is aimed at all locals and travellers, whatever their field of interest, who wish to record their impressions at home or abroad vividly and with precision, and/ or who have an interest in keeping a daily or literary travel journal.

The workshop begins with a talk on the ‘Colours of Words’ – a talk initially designed by the late Norman Morrissey, author of Strandloop, about the musical patterns in language. Participants then do an audio warm-up, listening to poems in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. Whether or not you understand all the languages, this part of the workshop is bound to open your heart and mind! Everybody then writes down first jottings, with a choice of pictorial stimuli and plenty of support from the workshop leader. We then turn the jottings into a free-flowing paragraph or poem, ending with collaborative feedback. Enough time for further editing and refining results in a writing experience that is unique and soul-uplifting.

A maximum number of 6 participants per workshop allows for an intimate writing experience.

Duration: 7 – 8 hours

Cost: ZAR1500 p/p

Workshop venue:  My home.

This workshop must be pre-booked and paid for beforehand. Call +27 (0)66 254 6846
